Camp - means the camp the Camper has enrolled in
and is scheduled to attend or is currently attending.
Camper - means a person: (1) who enrolls in Camp
for a specified Camp Session, provided he or she enrolls in this
plan during the 30-day period immediately following the date the
initial deposit is paid for the Camp Session; (2) for whom premium
for the insurance has been paid; and (3) while covered under the
Policy.
Camp Session - means the consecutive period of time
for which the Camper has enrolled as specified on the camp application
and for which premium for the insurance has been paid.
Complications of Pregnancy - means conditions requiring
Hospital stays (when the pregnancy is not terminated) whose diagnoses
are distinct from pregnancy but are adversely affected by pregnancy
or are caused by pregnancy. These conditions include acute nephritis,
nephrosis, cardiac decompensation, missed abortion and similar medical
and surgical conditions of comparable severity. Complications of
Pregnancy also include nonelective caesarian section, ectopic pregnancy
which is terminated and spontaneous termination of pregnancy, which
occurs during a period of gestation in which a viable birth is not
possible.
Complications of Pregnancy do not include false labor, occasional
spotting, physician-prescribed rest during the period of pregnancy,
morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum, preeclampsia and similar
conditions associated with the management of a difficult pregnancy
not constituting a nosologically distinct complication of pregnancy.
Hospital - means a place that: (a) holds a valid
license (if required by law); (b) operates primarily for the care
and treatment of sick or injured persons; (c) has a staff of one
or more physicians available at all times; (d) provides 24 hour
nursing service and has at least one registered professional nurse
on duty at all times; (e) has organized diagnostic and surgical
facilities, either on premises or in facilities available to the
hospital on a pre-arranged basis; and (f) is not, except incidentally,
a clinic, nursing home, rest home, or convalescent home for the
aged, or similar institution.
Immediate Family Member - means a person who is related
to the Camper in any of the following ways: spouse, brother-in-law,
sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law,
parent (includes stepparent or guardian), brother or sister (includes
stepbrother or stepsister), or child (includes legally adopted or
stepchild).
Injury **- means bodily injury: (a) which is sustained
as a direct result of an unintended, unanticipated accident that
is external to the body and that occurs while the policy is in force
as to the Camper, and (b) which directly (independent of sickness,
disease, mental infirmity, bodily infirmity or any other cause)
causes a covered loss.
Medically Necessary - means: (a) consistent with
the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of the Camper's condition;
(b) appropriate with regard to standards of good medical practice;
and (c) not primarily for the convenience of the Camper.
Physician - means a licensed practitioner of the
healing arts acting within the scope of his or her license who is
not (a) the Camper; (b) the Camper's spouse; (c) an employee or
consultant of the Camp, or (d) a person who is related to the Camper
by blood or marriage.
Pre-existing Condition - means a sickness, disease,
or other condition of the Camper or an Immediate Family Member of
the Camper that, in the 90-day period before the Camper's coverage
began; (a) first manifested itself, worsened, became acute or exhibited
symptoms which would have caused an ordinarily prudent person to
seek diagnosis, care or treatment; (b) required taking prescribed
drugs or medicine, unless the condition for which the prescribed
drug or medicine is taken remains controlled without any change
in the required prescription; or (c) was treated by a Physician
or treatment had been recommended by a Physician.
Sickness - means an illness or disease which requires
treatment by a Physician.
**In IL, NH, UT, and VT: Injury - means bodily injury: (a) which
is sustained as a direct result of an unintended, unanticipated
accident that occurs while this policy is in force as to the Camper,
and (b) which directly (independent of sickness, disease, mental
infirmity, bodily infirmity or any other cause) causes a covered
loss.
